I’ve been tagged by Miss Beaux and have to share six weird things about myself. How to narrow down to six, hmmm. My very patient fiance might be better apt to conquer this task, but here goes. . .

1. I’ve seen Les Miserables ten times. The first was in New York City when I was seven, and the last was in New York City last night. I mouth every word of the entire show (because if I sang it might disturb my fellow theatre-goers.) When I lived in London after college, my roommate Abby and I went to the show every time we had a crappy day at work. We would buy a Cadbury dairy milk chocolate bar for dinner (one for each of us) and pay 7 pounds to sit in the very back seat. Heaven.
2. I have an irrational and unnatural hatred for mayonnaise. It makes me sick to look at it or smell it. I worked at a bagel shop one summer in high school and would dread when a customer ordered a sandwich with extra mayo. Sometimes I would pretend not to hear him. I’m starting to get a little nauseous thinking about it.
3. My plain, preppy style belies my mild obsession with fashion. I have a stack of sketchbooks filled with “designs” I drew when I was a tot. I have folders full of photos I’ve cut out of magazines. I dressed up as Laura Bennett from Project Runway for Halloween this year, and nearly passed out when I met her on the subway platform last week.

4. I loooove beauty products and have a closet full of glosses, polishes, liners, shadows, scrubs, lotions, etc. BUT I only wear makeup if I have time to put it on in the morning (maybe once a week). The pretty packaging makes me happy. I’m a sucker.
5. I can only fall asleep these days if I work on a crossword puzzle first (nerd!) and I must have one leg under the covers and one leg out of the covers. If both are under I’m too hot. If both are over I’m too cold. I call this “banana.” I have no rhyme or reason for the name.

6. I played lacrosse for ten years, from middle school all through college, but I hate running. I have to trick myself every day to run. I run on the treadmill in the gym and MUST be watching TV. iPod doesn’t cut it anymore. If there are other people in the gym watching TV, I sometimes wait until they’re done so I can have complete TV control. If someone comes in after me, they’re stuck watching Law and Order, CSI, Scrubs. I feel a little guilty, but not enough to fork over the clicker.
There you have it. There are many more, of course, but I’ll stick to posting cheap-and-chic finds so as not to scare off readers. Have a fun weekend! And a note to my friends, family, and fiance, I’m sure you can easily add to this list. Please don’t.

I am with you on #4 AND

I was such a geek when I met her! But luckily she was the nicest. And of course, she looked *flawless*!

#1 makes me wish I were you. Or at least, that I lived in London and could pay bargain-basement prices to see amazing musicals after work. I caught opening night of “wicked” and “Avenue Q” while I was there, but isn’t “Les Mis” just the greatest thing ever?

Peel Banana, Peel Peel Banana. Peel to the left, peel to the right. Peel your banana, and ummm, take a bite! It’s all I could think of to say without adding to your list.

Melanie, I agree, and I miss London so much! Tara, how much do I love you? I think your comment sums it up, dear sister.

Doing crosswords doesn’t make you a nerd! It makes you the queen of meaningful information!
By ambika on January 26th, 2007 at 12:30 pm
Thanks Ambika, and you’re right, I’m not calling anyone else who does them a nerd, I just happen to own the fact that I am

Whenever my boyfriend has a sandwich with mayonnaise on it, I make him brush his teeth before he kisses me. Mayo is soooo gross.

I love mayonnaise! But only Hellmans -hahaha. I’m a bigger nerd, I do logic problem puzzles. I would ridicule the Les Miserables fanatacism but since you saw it mostly in London then that raises you up a notch -hahaha. Have you watched Little Britian lately -hilarious!

i am so glad there is someone out there who loathes mayo as much as i do. as someone who spends a lot of her free time cooking, I find that unless you make it from scratch (super easy!) it’s quite horrible and bad for you. but as a russian, i had to grow up around it and try refusing food with mayo at a russian table - people look at you like you have no manners..
