I’ve been captivated by the nautical-inspired trend in the past, in all of its navy-striped and boat-necked glory. Since all signs point to a resurgence this spring, why not get a jump start with a pair of sharp sailor’s pants? At this price, you’ve got nothing to lose if the trend sets sail. (Ha! Sorry.)

Always losing keys, pens, change, lip gloss, and other necessities in the abyss that is your purse? These laminated cotton pouches keep your swag organized. Or at least more accessible. Which is all I can really hope for these days.

Great brushes, I have come to learn, can make even the dodgiest makeup translate beautifully onto your face. Sadly, the price of a brush at most makeup counters can make you feel like you’re being Punk’d. (Pardon? $87 for what?) Enter Sonia Kashuk and her line of quality brushes (and makeup.) This purse set includes a blush brush, an eye shadow brush, an angled eye shadow brush and smudger, all housed in a sleek silver metallic case with a snap clasp. So rejoice that you can wear dodgy makeup and look fabulous. (And still have money for groceries.)

It may have “French” in the title, but this cotton and grosgrain ribbon skirt reminds me of something straight out of Roman Holiday. So tuck in a crisp white button down, lace up your Grecian sandals and hop on the nearest Vespa. (Hopefully the owner is handsome and available, and won’t be a bit put off by your moxie.)

A little segment on the Today Show this morning reminded me to peep Walmart’s website for the Mark Eisen designed offerings, and I found this little number. I love the chevron-patterned front and the delicately billowed sleeves. Give your cotton tees a break on the weekends, or for 9-5 pair it with straight leg trousers and heels for a look that says “I’m feminine, but I still mean business.”

Alone it may seem a bit daunting, like something an extra in Sixteen Candles would have worn. But pair it with a demure cardigan and flats, and it becomes head turning in a good way.

The mango butter smells like Heaven, but check out other gift sets on sale and stock up on presents for the whole year. 2007 New Year’s Resolution: stop spending way too much money on lame Birthday gifts at the eleventh hour. Check. Feel free to cross that one right off the list.

This feminine, felt floral-patterned jacket won’t keep you very warm this winter. (It’s a cotton blend.) But that’s not really the point now, is it?

While I’ve been a little disappointed with their prices lately, you can’t beat J. Crew’s 25% off already reduced sale items. Well I guess you could, but let’s not push it.
